Piezo Force Sensor
FTC(Connector Out Type) / FTW(Cable Out Type)
Quartz crystal disc sandwiched between upper and lower base plate generates an electro-static charge proportional to the applied force. This output is collected on the electrode and converted inside the sensor to a low impedance voltage (11V base voltage and 0 to 5V signal). Such a direct conversion from force to output signal is an unique character of piezo electric force sensor. Not like the load cell, pieze type sensors are good at dynamic force applications. They measure oscillating forces, impact or high speed compression/tension due to their features of fast response up to 200kHz, rugged construction, stable linearity over wide temperature range for 0.054%/^C over -20°C to +80°C. The piezo force sensor has a built-in pre-amplifier outputting DC-5V on the base voltage of 11V DC. The power source is 24VDC. To detect the force signal, it passes through the coupling condenser (AC coupling system). The sensing part forms a ring with a certain thickness. It will be used with a preload which should be applied very parallel toward sensor surface. This preloading is very important to keep a good linearity from zero force. |

PSS
PSS series frame sensors employ piezoelectric element (PZt) to catch fine shearing-force. Being mounted on the press column, it detects applied pressing load via column’s very small elongation accurately. Such pressing loads are accurately copied on the frame sensor’s force data, which makes it possible to monitor and control crimping force error without fail. Not like the ring washer type sensors such as FTW series (cable out type) and FTC series (connector out type), PSS sensors do not need any mounting jig or bracket. Even unskilled technical persons can install this PSS sensor very easily. Set the PSS sensor on a right position of the machine body with M6 set screw. The point of selecting a right position is to find a place receiving full force vertically. (See example: JAM LPC220). The sensor will be set vertically to detect its expanding volume. The sensor is not sensitive against horizontal distortion at all. |
